Being born in Germany and into an Army family, Carlyn started travelling from an early age out of necessity. After 20 years, her father retired from the military in the DC-Metro area (the DMV) and it quickly became home. In 2012 though, her mother invited her on a ladies trip to visit a close family friend in Tanzania. That trip is still one of the most trans-formative moments Carlyn's life! During those 18 days touring Tanzania, she fell in with travel, art, and culture as a hobby while working full time as a strategy consultant for a major defense contracting firm. She even picked up a second job to fund her new love of travel!
Since that trip, Carlyn has been to 20+ countries and 30+ states! She's taken family trips, solo trips, work trips, and of course … girls trips (still waiting on the baecation though lol). She's expressed countless times how much getting out of your daily routine can restore and strengthen bonds, saying "you learn so much about your friends but more importantly about yourself." Carlyn's travels have inspired her to be more assertive in designing what a fulfilled life looks like for herself. She launched the Femtourage to inspire other women to do the same and have support getting there. She sought to create a brand exclusively for women that was carefree, inspiring, honest, and sometimes a little ratchet.
In addition to managing the Femtourage and hosting the podcast Carlyn works full time as a process analyst for a major non-profit. She holds a bachelors degree from Hampton University and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Carlyn is a dog mom to a poorly behaved Shih-Tzu/Bichon Frise mix named Kingsley and an Auntie to a beautiful 1 year old named Zion.
